Brice Station Vineyards to Host Shakespeare on Vine Benefit Show | Press Releases
The following press release was issued by Shakespeare on the Vine Theater Company.
Shakespeare on the Vine Theater Company will be producing a short engagement benefit show this summer from August 3-7 at 8 p.m. ET. The impact of COVID-19 on this small theater group has been significant. The sale of tickets to this summer’s benefit show will directly help the large-scale production of Shakespeare that the company plans for the summer of 2022. The show is a popular parody piece called The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield. The play originally premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1987, spanned a record 9 years in London’s West End, and has maintained its popularity for the past 30 years.
The play is a hilarious, irreverent, and swift adventure through the bard’s vast cannon. Three crazy actors in pantyhose weave their way through all of Shakespeare’s comedies, stories, tragedies and sonnets in 90 crazy minutes. Each performance promises to leave the audience breathless with laughter. Directed by Tara Kayton, the Affair will star the hilarious and talented Tyler Mattson, Clocky McDowell and Elyse Sharp. These three actors skillfully juggle props, costumes, and the entirety of Shakespeare’s canon during this play. For some instances of vulgar and / or suggestive language or action, this piece is best suited for audiences ages 12 and up.
The Creative Team: Director Tara Kayton, Director Kierin Harrison, Production Manager Janet Cunningham, Stage Carpenter Dan Swanson, Costume Designer Herin Kaputkin, Lighting Designer Ross Aldrich, Stage Painter Dolores Mast and Assistant production Jenia Willhite.
This benefit show marks the company’s seventh year of work at Brice Station following successful productions by Macbeth (’19), The Tempest (’18), Hamlet (’17), As You Like It (’16) and The Taming of the Shrew (’15). These productions have enabled Brice Station to win the Tourist Innovations award from the Calaveras Tourist Office for the most innovative attraction and the most innovative company. Award-winning wine from Brice Station Vineyards will be available for purchase at 5:30 p.m. The 2021 benefit show only lasts five nights. From August 3 to 7 at 8 p.m.
