Hip Hop Against Hunger in Newark: Benefit Show at Military Park

NEWARK, NJ – Community leaders, residents and hip hop artists in Newark will come together to host a Hunger Relief benefit show from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 18. All ages are welcome to the event, which will take place at Military Park, 55 Park Place.

According to a press release from the organizers:

“New Jersey’s local hip hop scene joins forces with the Newark YMCA and other city leaders for the 8th Annual Hip Hop Against Hunger Benefit Show on Sunday, September 18 at Military Park in Newark, NJ. This family-friendly event will feature musical performances, DJs, breakdancers, live art, vendors, information tables and community resources as the band seeks to fight hunger and homelessness. .sness.

The organizers continued:

“With approximately 98,170 people struggling with food insecurity in Essex County alone, it is time to act. Hip Hop Against Hunger combines the power of music and community to impact the lives of those who need it most. Since 2010, founder Elgin Cintron has collected and distributed over 3,000 pounds of food, 500 bags of clothing and toiletries, and $1,500 in funds, all donated to local food banks and homeless shelters. shelter in his native Florida and current home in New Jersey.

This year, Cintron has set a goal to raise at least 2,000 pounds of food and $2,000, which will benefit New Jersey’s largest homeless shelter, the YMCA of Newark and Area.
