OMG Comedy Club Presents SUPERSIZED COMEDY Benefit Show

OMG Comedy Club presents Supersized Comedy-They’re FLABulous! in a special virtual fundraiser for foster children. The live stream takes place on Wednesday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. New York comics Mary Dimino and Sandy Ehlers join Massachusettsan Jess Miller rounding out the comedic trio for an evening of stand-up, history and unique characters.

Fundraising is dear to the comedian Jess Miller‘s heart, which ensures that “every show gives back to the community”. For Wednesday’s event, funds will be donated to Arts Kits for Kids, with the aim of sending 500 art kits to 500 foster children. The kits will include coloring books, crayons, sketchbooks, markers, construction paper, glue sticks and sidewalk chalk, plus other fun accessories. Each kit costs $15 and will be hand-delivered to accommodate children in the most needed areas.

Creating art has been proven to expand a child’s ability to interact with the world around them and provide them with a new set of skills to express themselves. Through art, children develop social, cognitive and emotional growth. As comedians and actors know intimately, nurturing a practice of imagination and creation is essential. “When a child is removed from their home, they can only grab a few essentials, like clothes, and throw them in a trash bag,” Miller says. “As artists, Mary and I know the importance of expressing ourselves, and we want to give these kids a chance to be able to do that too, with something of their own.”

Jess Miller is both an accomplished comedian and fundraiser who has raised over half a million dollars for nonprofits, individuals and various groups. Miller has performed at the Women in Comedy Festival, Boston Comedy Chicks, Caroline’s on Broadway, Big Pine and was a finalist at the Devil Cup Comedy Festival in New York. Miller is a crowd favorite wherever she performs, breaking down barriers with her distinctive observations about being gay in America. Miller hosted a long-running successful monthly show at Hu Ke Lau, calling it OMG! It’s only Wednesday? Miller’s comedy and good heart resonate loudly through The Kind Squad, a group she leads, which works anonymously to help those in need within their individual communities.

Mary Dimino brings his humor to the event with his latest creation Supersized Comedy – They’re FLABulous! Screenwriter and performer of two successful off-Broadway one-woman shows, Dimino is no stranger to artistic creation, be it theater or stand-up. Dimino’s SCARED SKINNY: A One (hundred-pound light) Woman Show, won the Overall Achievement Award for Outstanding Solo Exhibition at the New York International Fringe Festival. Her follow-up solo play, BIG DUMMY: Me & My Old Man, aired on Theater Row where it won a United Solo award. Twenty-year stand-up veteran Sandy Ehlers rounds out the evening’s comedy cast. Ehlers, who is also no stranger to acting, is currently preparing her one-woman show Brassy Sassy & Gassy. Ehlers broadcasts a daily morning talk show known as Sandy Tawk live. Every morning at 8:30 a.m., you can find her live on Facebook’s streaming platform.

What all three comics have in common are their humorous ups and downs with obesity, their love for the art of stand-up comedy, and their extraordinarily generous hearts. Oversized Comedy – They’re FLABULOUS! will explore perceived standards of beauty in society through stand-up, narrative, and eccentric characters. Let this treat of a trio brighten your day, while you lighten the lives of foster children in the community. Mark your calendars for a Wednesday OMG.
