Premium Pay program deadline: how to apply before October 1st?
Ddirect payments of $1,000 will be sent to thousands of people across Connecticutas long as they are eligible for the scheme.
There’s a $30 million pot up for grabs, which means plenty of residents could be in line to benefit.

Who is eligible for Connecticut Premium Pay program benefits?
The program is similar to many others across the UNITED STATES and was created by the Connecticut Legislature to provide financial assistance to essential workers who have been employed during the pandemic.
Therefore, to qualify for benefits, Connecticut residents must have been employed as essential workers between March 10, 2020 and May 7, 2022.
The program defines an “essential worker” as someone who worked in an essential job in Connecticut and did not have the ability to work remotely during the pandemic.
For those earning less than $100,000 a year, those workers will receive $1,000.
All essential workers must earn $149,999 a year or less to be eligible to receive funds.
Employees working for a federal, state or municipal government agency will not be eligible. The deadline to apply is October 1 and checks will be mailed within 60 days.
How does Connecticut Premium Pay work?
The Connecticut State Comptroller’s Office will oversee the program with the assistance of the Public Advisory Group for Claims and Payment Processing.
The comptroller said the money would be distributed evenly and not on a first-come, first-served basis. This differs from many recent government programs.
“We want to make sure everyone gets the same treatment and that payments are made and adjusted as needed,” Natalie Braswellwho works at the CT Office of the State Comptroller, told Fox 61.
